On this December 10th I embarked on a personal test. I roasted and carved my first turkey. The turkey was between 10 and 12 pounds I think. And it was pre-smoked.
NOTE: IN A PERSONALLY CONDUCTED RECENT SURVEY OF 4 PEOPLE FROM PRETTY MUCH MY DEMOGRAPHIC 4 OF 4 HAD NEVER ROASTED THEIR OWN TURKEY. NONE WERE A HELP IN GIVING ME ADVICE ON THAWING OUT THE TURKEY TRICKS. I HAD ONLY 1 DAY TO THAW THE SUCKER.The only prep that I did was to stuff a lemon into its cavity. During the roasting I basted the turkey with its own juices and a little salt and pepper here and there. I will be logging every menu item that contains any of the roasted turkey. So far there are two (m1.0 and m2.0).
Tonight I divy-ed up the platter into two groups. Those to go to the fridge and those to the frezzer. Each baggie was sealed and marked for its intended purpose (see pic below).
m1.0 >> For pre-meal dessert a slice of Mint Ginger Raspberry, Wild Blueberry, and Strawberry pie. Steamed corn, broccoli, and cauliflower. Turkey leg and breast meat and little bites here and there from the platter.
m2.0 >> An ear of corn boiled with parsley and ground pepper. 2 saltine crackers with homemade quacamole. A turkey (white with a little dark), roasted red pepper and onion, a small application of parmesean, parsley and pepper, and quacamole panini thing on wheat bread. And an after dinner slice of pie.[PICS OF MEALS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.]
