11:25 PM >> Art imitates breakfast

This is what was left of my Colorado omelette from IHOP. Of course there is no omelette in the picture becuase I ate all of that. The stack of cakes though I did not finish. I used the first two in the stack to make McGriddle like bites for my omelette. The last in the stack was saved for art this art project.

I also found out that Red Lobster is the IHOP of seafood.

THE LATEST UPDATES TO MY MIRRAL >>

FIRST > Here's the gang as it exists now. Aren't they ominous?

SECONDLY > Here's me photoging the Eye. The eye is a new element. Things I think will start to change from this point forward. Mirral is going to be getting a little more heady. And the Eye is the start of it all.

N.B. from the Eye: Some changes have already been entered into the works. I'll say things are getting heady. Heavy, Doc. Heavy.

9:58 PM >> Saint Dalbaby d'Arc

This is my baby brother posing as Joan of Arc. He is modeling a purse-turned-hood that he created by the method of knitting. I pray that he never receives divine visions causing him to run around his office with knitting paraphenalia hunting bullish 15th century Brits.

N.B. from d'Arc: "you may be interested to know that the pants i am wearing in the picuter are actually a hoody. my legs are inserted through the sleeves. i have entered through the bottom with the hood going up under my legs and belted against my butt. also in the picture i am actually holding the knitting needle used to knit the hood/bag."

8:15 PM >> Cold Stone Birthday Club

If you know what's good for you become a member of the Cold Stone Creamery Birthday Club. Once a year you'll get an email for a free creation from CSC. How sweet is that! I joined today.

Also, man, take advantage of their free t-shirt deal. Buy a 48oz to-go size and get a free t-shirt. I got one last week. I purchase 48oz of Sinless Sweet Cream with banana, roasted almonds, and coconut mix in's. It's great. I have a sweet treat everyday for lunch. And I wear my t-shirt around when it's clean.

The shirt is like this (I wish they had it in black, but that's just for employees) >>

And then why not. I thought you might also like this photo of a 2 dimensional Wendy's Bacon Mushroom Melt.

11:08 PM >> A fruit, a desk, and a new home

First the fruit. It's called a Cherimoya. The story behind the fruit is 1 part amazement and 2 parts disappointment. The amazing thing is this fruit when sampled fresh (that was my first experience, a free in-store sample). It was kind of like a pineapple, pear, peachy-texture. It was really good. And exotic. So many exotic fruits at the grocery these days. Not like it was 15 years ago. It makes the produce section really fun to shop.

The dos disappointments are that #1 this one fruit cost me $3.29. I put it in the fridge thinking that would keep it fresh because I wouldn't be able to get to it right away. WRONG. That led to dis #2. After being in the fridge fruit drawer for a week or so the fruit totally dried up and became nastily bitter. I couldn't really even eat it. I should have read these very clear instructions before attempting the Cherimoya.

Next, the desk. I made this laptop desk out of the legs, which I found in the trash at work, and two pieces that I got in the "as-is" department at IKEA. It's fairly stable and a good height when I'm sitting in my recliner watching movies and stuff.

And finally, a new home. Adobe, rather. I repotted my orphaned cacti on Sunday. I have had a couple of my orphans die sense retrieving them from an earlier doom. I think I've lost a total of 2. One was doing really badly when I rescued them so I don't really count him. These three are really striving though. I think they'll like their new homes. According to the bag of potting soil they need to stay out of the direct sunlight for 2-3 days. Forgetting this until this morning they spent the night under a red colored heat lamp. I home that didn't screw things up.

11:10 PM >> boredom = art, table parts

In a fit of boredom on Friday afternoon. I returned from IKEA and created the following piece of art. As well I crappily painted a piece of spare 'wood' from the IKEA 'sold as is' department that I am going to be using to construct a new table. Details on the table will follow later. But the boredom art was created with a section of beadboard, some wall paint, and some craft paints that I had sitting around for just such uses.

10:38 PM >> McD's chocolate dip cone

Ice cream is now again in my life. When I was in high school I think I had a root beer or Coke or Orange Crush float everynight. Really lately I don't eat too much ice cream. This weekend I got on the subject of ice cream with my parents. They were telling me about this place the Cold Stone Creamery. Yeah, I've heard of it, but I never knew about the whole mixing it on the stone business that they do there. I was intrigued. Not so much for the ice cream but for the personalization-hibachi-like aspect of the whole experience.

Leaving the conversation I wanted some ice cream. My parents turned me on to their latest guilty lactade pleasure - McDonald's soft serve chocolate dip cones. On a hot day you've got to really work to enjoy this thing without major troubles. My Dad played it totally cool and ate the whole thing without a stray drip or spill or anything. My Mom did pretty good too.

For some reason I was laughing like crazy before the cone even got to me. In addition to that I was given a lopsided cone that had breaches in the chocolate dip coating. So the thing was melting all over the place. It was a total mess. I looked like a five year old. (I'm 29.) There was ice cream and chocolate everywhere. And I was laughing the whole time.

It's a great treat though. I highly recommend.

I might also add that ice cream cones are difficult to eat with a beard.

INT. BAR - EVENING

"Yes, the usual," Parker nodded. He noticed the Bartender's new shoes. She's worn those old, tatter converse stars the two years he's been coming here. These didn't flatter the worn legs of her jeans the way the cons did. Starring down inspecting the new kicks his Bushmills slid across the bar in front of him. Bushmills neat, the usual.

"New kicks, huh, Doll? Tell me just what the hell's up with that?"

"My connie's were stolen," the vixen whimpered. "They were stolen and..."

She was upset. She shared the whole story. He took notes in a journalist's pad like a detective. He asked questions. Smoke cigarettes. Sipped Irish whiskey. When she had finished the lids of her eyes pooled with salty water. He handed her a bev nap. She began to weep, subtley to avoid any embarrassment she might face with her other customers.

"I'll promise you five grand, a generous note, if you can find them and return them to me," she proposed between snivels.

"Sure, Dame. I'll have them back to you as sure as death and as sure as taxes," Parker swaggered.

Standing he stubbed out his smoke, finished off the last swig of his neat from the tumbler, and put on his fedora and coat. He was out the door and on the case.

8:18 PM >> The McQuik au Lait

Not only are QuikTrip coffee drinks mixable within their own family but they can be fused with other kingdoms. Story goes that I had a coupon for a free new premium roast coffee at McDonald's. But I was needing to go to QuikTrip. I can't go to QT without getting some kind of beverage. And my McD's coupon was expiring soon. So I concocted the McQuik au Lait.

1) At McD's I got a small coffee. No cream. No sugar requested.
2) I drove across the street. A difficult maneuver involving rush hour traffic and a u-turn.
3) I entered QT and purchased a Vanilla Steamer adding two packs of equal to really make it sweet. I got the 20oz cup but only filled it half way (99 cents).
4) In the bed of my truck I combined the ingredients. Pouring the McD's coffee into the 20oz QT cup.

The 99 cent result was brilliant. I loved it and almost had it finished before I made it to the highway. It was that good.

Use these two resources to triangulate your McQuik au Lait today >>
McD's restaurant locator AND QuikTrip store locator.

What's an au lait? Starbucks calls theirs a misto, and Carribou uses the literal café au lait. Typical.

Butchie know A/C units. Butchie knows plumming. Butchie knows plumbing. Butchie talks in thick Jersey song. Butchie loves soul food.
