11:12 PM >> The non-vindictive sponge

I have an instinctive nature to be a nice pleasant person. I generally try not to cause conflict or controversy. Therefore in crowds of people I don't typically interact with I'm the quiet guy. I moved around a lot as a kid. So my modus operandi was to lay low for a few months until I felt comfortable opening up or getting in with a cliche.

So, this evening at an after work get together I was my typical quiet guy silent self. I was called on my quietness by one of the members of the party. As a note much of the party was pretty drunk.

I responded to my accuser who was felt that I was stowing away dirt on people that there was no worry. I told him, "I'm not vindictive, I'm just a sponge."

He nodded.

I explained that I was just cataloging various bytes of information for some ambiguical future use.

That seemed fine to him.

Then I explained futher that my heavily soaked catalog, while not vindictive, might in fact be used in benefit of myself (non-vindictively of course). He stuttered at that comment like I might be up to something. But, hey, I'm a nice quy. I'd never do anything to hurt or incriminate anyone.

But I am listening. Just remember that. I'm listening and taking detailed mental notes.

10:18 PM >> Wendy's BMM is here

Once a year Wendy's releases their Bacon Mushroom Melt for a limited time. It usually lasts about a month. For most stores that's about as long as supplies last. If you're lucky you can still enjoy the BMM for a few extra days.

I suggest that you treat yourself. I even suggest that you treat yourself a number of times. And why not keep a log of it. The image below is a worksheet I made a few years back. I was not as lean then and very ambitious. It was a really fun month though. I ate the BMM a lot.

It's such a good burger. It really is. So go. Go satisfy yourself. Get a frosty too, they're good.

7:35 PM >> Miss matched tennies

This is great. This is great. For the past 2 and a half weeks I've worn two miss matched shoes. Just for the H. The shoes look pretty similar. But they are different. And until today no one has notice. Today a guy at work sitting on the ground noticed. I congratulated him. I gave him a consolation prize. Then I walked away in my miss matched tennie pumps. Yes. Yes.

7:47 PM >> Pretzel - the official food of lent

As a kind of Catholic I think lent is coming up. I saw a little show on cable television on the food network about the history of the pretzel which is the official food of lent. Wow. So if you want to learn a little more about the pretzel there's a great little website with a lot of info. Check out the history of the Pretzel. And Cath or not you should enjoy the little sacri-culinary history lesson.

11:26 AM >> Heaven's climate

In a recent conversation with someone in the know I became aware that the climate in Heaven is different than what I expected. Apartently it's not a mild climate but kind of hot in fact. A dry heat he said. I was hoping for something a little more like Georgia. Something with a nice change of seasons would be nice too.

10:06 PM >> Smithsonian music

Ok, here's a good resource for listening to music online and downloading various cool things. If you are into old timey, roots-ish, and world music like I am a lot you should check it out. It all takes place through the Smithsonian people.

This all reminds me about a Washington DC trip that I've been meaning to make but haven't yet.

9:01 PM >> Coffee maker tip

For thoses of yous with drip coffee makers here's some instructions on how to clean your coffee maker.

CLEANING >>

I think you are supposed to do this 4 times a year. Somehow it removes the salty build-up or something like that from the water or something like that something. Desalutificatory buildup-ism. Or something.

Bambi Loaf with Heinz Hot & Spicy Ketchup Kick'rs

Venison meatloaf made with chopped jalepeno peppers, red onions, green peppers, some garlic, corn meal, quick cooking barley, Heinz Hot & Spicy Ketchup Kick'rs, pepper and such. Oh, and an egg. But I guess that's a standard meatloaves.

Rating: 8.47

9:32 AM >> Making Huxley grow

Huxley is doing so well. I am so proud of him. His middle stalk seems to be growing every day. He's quiet though. Doesn't speak much. But he keeps on growing and that tells me he's happy. I haven't even given him a solution of plant foot yet just regular old tap water. Anyone know a good solution to give houseplants. Let me know.

"Fine to think we can go on being socially useful even after we're dead. Making plants grow."
- Henry Foster, a perfectly conventional Alpha male, from chapter five of Brave New World

9:16 AM >> Vegetables About To Go Bad Soup

A nearly bad onion and some celery stalks turned into a soup with mushrooms from a can, fortified with quick cooking barley, part of a packet of onion soup mix, and salt and pepper to taste.

Rating: 7.35

NOTE: My left hand and my tupperware now featured on the Internet.

9:04 AM >> 24oz PBR

If you are Dusty reading this I apologize. For others though let me confess. My brother, Dusty, kept -- for the last year or so before we parted ways to separate apartment -- a 24oz PBR in the fridge of our apartment. Then when we moved out he did not take it with him. I kind of voiced that I did not want to be responsible for the beer. Mainly I knew that I would drink it in desparation and sure enough I did.

I've actually dranken it twice in desparation. And each time I feel super quilty but I always replace it when I am done. I still feel quilty of screwing up some grand plan of my brother's.

But I always buy a new one. Always.

So Dust it's there.

Regrettably,
Ed

10:43 PM >>

On a similar note, it is a bit disconcerting to me that every time I go to Amazon.com, there is a link letting me know that Amazon has been patiently working in the background, waiting for my return since my last visit, all the while figuring out some great recommendations of things for me to buy.

10:27 PM >>

10:58 AM >> Proposed lighting solution

this is a diagram of the lighting solution for the long dark hallway in my place. it is long and dark and dangerous. it needs light. i've been told not to uplight. so my solution utilizes the two windows on the wall that look into my bedroom. they're approximately 6.5 feet up and roughly a foot square, i quess. i'll run the cords from the lamps into my bedroom so i don't have cords all over the wall. cords on the wall are like scary snakes which are worse than long dark hallways.
